Pastor Yomi Akinyemi is a willing vessel in God’s hands and a testimony to what God can do with an ordinary person. He gave his life to the Lord in November of 1993 at the Baptist Student Fellowship, University of Lagos, Nigeria. Yomi promptly dedicated himself to studying the Word, fellowshipping with other believers, and sharing his faith. Yomi served in various ministries including Prayer, Sunday School, Evangelism, and Deliverance before relocating to the United States with his wife in the year 2000.
In Reno, Nevada, Yomi continued to serve the Lord faithfully in various ministries until June of 2005, when he relocated to Columbus, Ohio upon the Lord’s leading to attend World Harvest Bible College. He graduated in 2007 and was subsequently commissioned into the ministry.
Due to his passion for souls, Yomi considered himself an evangelist and resisted the idea of pastoring a church for a long time despite the encouragement from one of his mentors, pastor friends, and other believers. Yomi finally gave in to the Lord’s calling on September 6th, 2009 when the Lord spoke to him in a dream that He has called him to pastor and Virginia State is where the assignment is. With the blessings of his spiritual mentors, Yomi left his banking job by faith and moved to Fairfax, Virginia to establish Zion Worship Center.
Pastor Yomi was solemnly and publicly set apart and ordained to the work of the Gospel Ministry by Bishop William Hildreth, Bishop Timothy Cummings, and a host of other Pastors at the 2011 Faith Christian Fellowship International Annual Conference.
Pastor Yomi’s passion is to see the fear of God restored in the heart of humanity. He is committed to preaching the Gospel by emphasizing the fallen state of man and the need for redemption through the Lord Jesus Christ with the apostolic age signs and wonders following.
Yomi also has a bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, and a master’s degree in business administration from Ashland University, Ashland, Ohio. An author, he has published a non-fiction book on spiritual growth titled, Avoid the Path to Pisgah: Finding God’s Sure Way To Your Promised Land. He is married to Toyin, and they are blessed with three children, Tolu, Iyanu, and Rere. They currently reside in Fairfax, Virginia.
