Scripture: Proverbs 26:2, Numbers 21:23, Galatians 3:13-14, Exodus 20:1-17
The dictionary definition of a curse is an appeal or prayer for evil or misfortune to befall someone or something. It is also the evil or misfortune that comes in or as if in response to such an appeal.
A reason must be established for a curse to stay. The Bible says in Proverbs 26:2, Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse does not come to rest. In Joshua 6:26 the Bible says, at that time Joshua pronounced this solemn oath: “Cursed before the Lord is the man who undertakes to rebuild this city, Jericho: “At the cost of his firstborn son will he lay its foundation; at the cost of his youngest will he set up its gates. That curse came to pass in 1 Kings 16:34 when Hiel of Bethel rebuilt Jericho. He laid its foundations at the cost of his firstborn son Abiram, and set up its gates at the cost of his youngest son Segub. Curses can also be generational. A curse was pronounced on the Gibeonites in Joshua 9:23 and Joshua 9:27 confirms that is what they are to this day. Today’s generation of Gibeonites who did not know what happened then is still suffering from the consequences of action of their ancestors.
God given dominion to the devil, and in Sin- disobedience to the word of God – automatically brings a curse upon one (Deuteronomy 28:15-68). Each time a sin is committed, an exchange takes place. You surrender your turn he gains more ground in your life with the goal of establishing his stronghold there.
Many are also under a curse because someone in position of authority over them (e.g. parents, church leaders, spouse and so on) pronounced it against them. Others may be under a curse as a result of the affliction from the kingdom of darkness. No matter what the case may be, the truth is that our Lord Jesus Christ has been made a curse for you by the reason of His death on the cross (read Numbers 21:23 and Galatians 3:13-14). Therefore every curse that is operational in your life today must cease in Jesus’ name. Galatians 3:26-29 says, you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Note Not every problem in life is caused as a result of a curse. There are times we go through wilderness experience just because it is God’s way of bringing us into our :Promise Land (Exodus 13:17-18 says, when Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, “If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt”. So God led the people around by the desert road toward the Red Sea.
Ask God for forgiveness if you have opened the door which has allowed that curse to stay. You may also need to apologize to whoever you may have hurt in the past by your actions and asked to be prayed for (if a Christian) Instructions:by such. Also ask God for the forgiveness of the sins of your ancestors and parents. Now use you authority in Christ Jesus to break any curse that may be operational in your life as you pray the following prayers.
Prayers:
Every operational curse in my life, I come against you this day in the name of Jesus who has been made a curse for me (Galatians 3:13).
Every generational curse upon my family, I command you to break in the name of Jesus.
Every generational curse working against my destiny, I command you to break in the name of Jesus.
Every curse uttered against me by anyone in position of authority over me, because Christ has forgiven me I command you to be reversed in Jesus’ name.
Every work of darkness perpetuated by the kingdom of darkness against me and my family members, I charge you to be destroyed this day in the name of Jesus.
Every demon assigned to enforce any curse against me, I bind you at this moment and I command your activity to cease in my life in the name of Jesus.
Since I belong to Christ and I am Abraham’s seed, let the blessings of Abraham begin to flow into my life in Jesus’ name (Galatians 3:29).
Every stolen blessing in my life, according to my word of the Lord be restored unto me in multiple fold in Jesus’ name (Exodus 22:7).
Let my stolen virtues be restored by the blood of Jesus.
I refuse to fail from this day forward in the name of Jesus
